Setting Up A Globally Recognized Avatar (Gravatar) for your Brand

You may be asking, "What is a Globally Recognized Avatar" and "Why do I need one?" Those are the two questions I am hoping to answer for you today.

First things first, a globally recognized avatar is an avatar (picture of you or your business logo) which is displayed on blogs and similar sites to display user-provided pictures from a central database.

Gravatar is a free service that pairs your e-mail address(es) with an image that you upload on the Gravatar website. When you comment on a Gravatar enabled blog or website, this image will automatically be included with your comment.

Our customers have often asked why they may need or want a global avatar for their business. The answer is always the same, to help solidify your brand identity online.

In today's socially driven Internet world, it is always good to promote your brand and be consistent when doing so.

Want more information? Watch the video below to see more about Gravatar.

Setting up a Gravatar is a simple process.  If you have not already visit Gravatar and set up your free account today.

Steps for Setting up your own Global Avatar (Gravatar)

• Sign up for a free account at http://en.gravatar.com/
• Verify your email address by clicking on the link in the email you are sent
• Choose a nickname and password (only lowercase letters and numbers allowed)
• Upload a picture to the site from your hard drive or use an online image
• Crop your picture to suit
• Choose a rating
• Click on the image to associate it with the email address
• Your Gravatar should now show up next to your email address. You can add one more email address on this account.

Thank you for the excellent article 。 My husband and I were very impressed with all the issues that she addressed. They will be a big help to us, not to mention to the many families that are now and in the years ahead that will be caring for their parents and/or aging family members! Great job, Kathryn! It's a "keeper"!
